Slangit Technologies and GADEF International Launch Africa AI Literacy Initiative to Reach Five Million People

Defining Future Leaders in Africa Powered by AI

ACCRA, GH / ACCESS Newswire / August 25, 2026 / Slangit Technologies and GADEF International have signed a five-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement to advance artificial intelligence literacy, responsible AI adoption and human-capital development across Africa, beginning in Ghana and expanding into Kenya and South Africa. The initiative is intended to be implemented in collaboration with relevant government ministries and public institutions responsible for education, technology, digital transformation and human-capital development. Its impact framework targets 3 million AI-literate people across 3 countries within 3 years, growing to 5 million people within 5 years.

The initiative will combine Slangit’s AI technology platforms, education programmes, professional-development capabilities and Human Capital Intelligence methodologies with GADEF’s philanthropic network, community-development organizations and social-impact ecosystem.

Philanthropy That Builds Lasting Human Capability

Philanthropic institutions, foundations, corporations and development partners will be invited to fund learning opportunities, educator development, community access, AI Ambassadors and institutional capacity-investments that go beyond providing access to technology to build lasting human capability. Achieving the five-year target will require coordinated support from governments, philanthropists, corporations and development partners. “Africa’s greatest resource is its people,” said Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, Founding Executive Director of GADEF International. “Philanthropy has the power to ensure that talent and opportunity are not separated by geography or income. Through this initiative, partners can help millions of Africans gain the knowledge, confidence and skills to participate meaningfully in the economic and technological transformation that will define their future.”

A Generation That Must Not Be Left Behind

Across Africa, millions of young people have the talent and ambition to shape the future but risk being prepared for yesterday’s economy. As AI transforms education, employment and society, they need more than access to technology: they must learn to understand AI, question its outputs, recognize its limitations, use it responsibly and build with it. Without these capabilities, Africa risks consuming systems that overlook its languages, cultures and realities instead of helping create the intelligence shaping the world. “Artificial Intelligence will transform economies, and it is our responsibility to ensure that future generations are ready to shape that transformation,” said Rabih Chehade, Founder and CEO of Slangit Technologies. “A child’s opportunity to understand and shape AI should not be determined by geography or income. Our ambition is not to create millions of passive AI users in Africa, but to develop people who can think critically, innovate responsibly and contribute their own languages, cultures and ideas to the future of intelligence. We have built the technology to help deliver that opportunity responsibly and at scale.”

Powered by Slangit’s aiSTART platform, the initiative will turn access to AI into measurable human capability-enabling people not only to use AI, but to understand it, question it and create with it responsibly. In doing so, it will advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 17 by expanding access to education, inclusion, employment, innovation and sustainable partnerships.
